Roof modernisation at the Harokopio University buildings in Athens

PROJECT

In the summer of 2025, the central building and the library building of Harokopio University in Athens underwent roof modernisation. As part of the project, a complete FATRAFOL waterproofing system with PVC membranes and accessories was designed and installed. The total area of the installed waterproofing membrane reached 1,100 m².

SOLUTION

FATRAFOL 810/V membrane with a thickness of 1.5 mm in white colour was selected for the roof waterproofing. To ensure waterproofing of details and proper system integration, FATRANYL laminated metal sheets in dimensions of 1 m × 2 m, unreinforced FATRAFOL 804 PVC membrane with a thickness of 1.5 mm, as well as internal and external corners and ventilation stacks were used.

BENEFITS

The FATRAFOL 810/V membrane was selected based on its specific technical and functional advantages, making it ideal for applications directly exposed to weather conditions. The membrane can be installed without an additional protective layer thanks to its high resistance to sunlight, rain and wind, as well as its excellent UV resistance with stable long-term performance. At the same time, it offers very good tensile strength and resistance to other mechanical stresses. The waterproofing system was installed using hot-air welding technology, ensuring a uniform and completely watertight surface with a high level of reliability. In addition, the white colour of the membrane helps reduce the thermal load on buildings due to its high reflectivity index.
